The unique natural phenomenon in the Black Sea region has posed unpredictable challenges for the local population and wildlife. Incredible temperature fluctuations, powerful cyclones, and impassable roads have become commonplace for coastal residents. However, even amid these challenges, nature continues to impress with its beauty and magic. This information comes from Dr. Ivan Rusev, a doctor of biological sciences, professor, and science journalist.
During a visit to the National Natural Park Tuzly Estuaries an impressive number of flamingos were discovered. According to recent surveys, the protected area of the national park is home to a whole army of pink birds – 1520 adult individuals, 170 young gray ones, and 80 white-gray flamingos.
"All young flamingos born in our national park have already taken flight and are exploring the lagoons in the protected area alongside the adults," notes Ivan Rusev.
The inspection of the lagoons and coastal areas remains relevant, particularly concerning the possibility of using illegal fishing gear. The importance of preserving biodiversity in the region is also emphasized.
Recently conducted surveys revealed 6 young flamingos with yellow rings, which scientists had previously tagged. The National Park's state protection service emphasizes that all measures are taken to ensure the safety of these unique birds and the preservation of their environment.
