President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with Vice Chancellor, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action of Germany Robert Habeck, who is on a visit to Ukraine.
The Head of State praised Germany's comprehensive support for Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression. In particular, he noted the assistance to the regions.
"In general, I would like to thank Germany and the entire German society for their extremely tangible support of Ukraine throughout the full-scale war, in times of all these challenges," the President emphasized.
Zelensky informed of the intensification of Russian missile terror against Ukraine. The parties also focused on the importance of further bolstering Ukraine's air defense with modern Western-made systems.
"It is difficult to overestimate Germany's decision to support us with the new Patriot system. Air defense is our priority today," the Head of State said.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the restoration of energy infrastructure after Russian missile strikes, as well as ways to attract German assistance for the speedy repair of damaged power plants.
Particular attention was paid to bilateral cooperation in the defense industry and the defense needs of Ukrainian defenders. The President expressed gratitude for all the military support provided by Germany and discussed with Robert Habeck the key areas of further assistance.
The parties also exchanged views on attracting German investment in Ukraine and developing economic cooperation, and coordinated steps to prepare for the Ukraine Recovery Conference to be held in Berlin this June. Zelensky outlined Ukraine's expectations regarding the results of this event.
The parties also discussed the first Global Peace Summit in Switzerland, which will also take place this June. The President expressed gratitude for Germany's support for the Ukrainian Peace Formula and Chancellor Olaf Scholz's assistance in its promotion.
