The use of long-range weapons is a key element in reducing the military potential of the aggressor country. Destroying logistical chains and military targets deep within Russia, as well as eliminating concentrations of personnel and equipment, is made possible by missiles, loitering bombs, and deep strike capabilities. Additionally, an effective missile defense system is being created to protect Ukrainian cities from enemy shelling.

Thus, among the Ministry of Defense's key tasks for 2025 is the development of innovative systems that target enemy objectives at maximum range with high precision.

In 2024, investments in this direction already yielded concrete results on the battlefield:

  • The first domestically produced missiles were made, including expanding the serial production of cruise missiles.
  • Development and testing of ballistic and cruise missiles, increasing their strike range.
  • Ongoing efforts to organize the supply of anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs) through joint production with Ukraine's defense industry and foreign partners.

The development and production of long-range weapons will remain a focus of the Ministry of Defense in 2025:

  • Ballistic and cruise missiles, which will serve as a deterrent to the aggressor.
  • Components of the missile defense system (MDS) capable of effectively protecting Ukrainian cities from enemy attacks.
  • A domestic missile defense complex with capabilities matching the best foreign counterparts.
  • Control systems for anti-aircraft missile complexes.

Negotiations are underway with partners for the acquisition of foreign systems, and modern Ukrainian missile defense systems are being developed in collaboration with Western companies.

These projects are overseen by the Department for the Development of Missile Weaponry and Missile Defense Systems, established in 2024. This has allowed the integration of modern technologies, Ukrainian expertise, and support from allies to create effective combat solutions.
