Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the relevant committee of the Italian Parliament recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people.
Zelensky announced this at a joint briefing with Giorgia Meloni in Kyiv. Now the Italian parliament has to make the corresponding decision.
The leadership of Ukraine called on the parliaments of all countries to recognize the Holodomor of the Stalinist regime of 1932-1933 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people.
It is important for us to recognize the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people since this year will already be the 90th anniversary of this tragedy. Madam Prime Minister told me that the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Italian Parliament had already voted for this important decision yesterday.
