The Russians have used chemical weapons in Ukraine over 620 times

The defense forces have recorded 626 instances of the Russian Federation using ammunition containing poisonous chemical substances in Ukraine, reports General Staff.

Of these, 51 cases occurred in just January of the current year. Moreover, the trend of usage is increasing, with up to 10 instances of chemical substance application being reported daily.

Most commonly, the Russian forces utilizes grenades such as K-51, RGR, dropped from UAVs.

However, homemade explosive devices equipped with irritant substances are also employed. Additionally, artillery shelling with projectiles containing chemically hazardous substances is conducted.

On December 14, 2023, the use of a new type of special gas grenade, RG-VO, containing the chemical substance CS, was discovered.

A total of 36 cases of using hazardous chemical substances have been documented and forwarded for investigative actions within the framework of criminal proceedings by the radiological, chemical, and biological reconnaissance teams of the military units of the Support Forces Command jointly with the Security Service of Ukraine.
