Russian forces attempted to break through the border in the direction of Dihtriarne in the Kharkiv region, but the Defense Forces repelled the Russian attack, destroying over 20 troops.
This was reported on air by the State Border Guard Service spokesperson, Andriy Demchenko.
"This (attack) took place in the direction of the settlement of Dihtriarne. Previously, the enemy appeared in small groups near the border, probably testing the situation. But at the beginning of this week, after concentrating some of their forces, they tried to attack the positions of the border units with small infantry groups, but in larger numbers. Overall, during these days while our guys were repelling the attack, the enemy lost about 21 killed, and 11 invaders were wounded," Demchenko said.
He added that attempts are currently being recorded by the Russian forces to expand the combat zone to nearby settlements—Kruhle and Buhruvatka.
"The enemy does not abandon attempts to breach the state border and expand the combat zone within Ukrainian territory, but thanks to the resilience and courage of every Ukrainian soldier and border guard, the enemy has not succeeded in this direction," the spokesperson stated.
According to him, near the border village of Sotnytskyi Kozachok in the Kharkiv region, no Russian activity is currently observed.
At the same time, the day before, the Russian forces tried to storm the positions of border units in the direction of the settlement of Vovchanski Khutory, but suffered losses and failed to advance.
Demchenko also commented on the situation in the area of the village of Hrabovske in the Sumy region.
"The enemy is inside the settlement itself… They had entered there at one point, trying to move beyond the settlement and attack the positions of Ukrainian defenders further. At the same time, they have not succeeded in advancing within the Krasnopil community, specifically in the direction of Hrabovske," he said.
The spokesperson noted that the Russian forces periodically shows activity in various directions within both Sumy and Kharkiv regions, where previously they had not shown any significant activity.
