Counterintelligence of the Security Service has detained an FSB agent in Kyiv who was adjusting massive missile and drone attacks by Russian forces on the Ukrainian capital. He turned out to be a 36-year-old employee of a local company that installs security and fire alarm systems at strategically important facilities in Ukraine.

According to the case materials, throughout this autumn the suspect collected coordinates of potential “targets” in the city for Russian strikes.

During his work trips, he also monitored the aftermath of Russian strikes on Kyiv’s energy facilities and immediately “reported” this to the FSB to help adjust repeat attacks.

Hoping to “bypass” Ukrainian air defense, the Russian forces asked its accomplice for information about the approximate locations of air-defense missile systems and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces.

SSU officers exposed the agent, documented his activities, and detained him.

The investigation established that the suspect came to the FSB’s attention this spring due to his comments on Telegram channels and on VKontakte, where he called for the capture of Ukraine.

Later, he was recruited remotely, given assignments, and trained in agent communication channels, which included anonymous messenger chats and email.

During searches, the detainee’s smartphones, flash drives, and eight Ukrainian SIM cards—which he used for covert activity—were seized.

The perpetrator is currently in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
