The film "Vitya," directed by Maksym Susida, has been awarded as the best Eastern European film by the European Short Film Awards.

This was announced by the press service of the Ukrainian Film School.

The film tells the story of a 24-year-old novice psychologist working at an auto repair shop in a small town. He dreams of helping people, but psychology is not trusted by the locals, so Vitya tries to reach out to them and find clients.

The film was produced by students of the film school, with Maksym Susida as the idea author and director, Oleksiy Nikulin as the cinematographer, Katerina Kholodenko as the scriptwriter, Artem Navrotsky as the sound engineer, and Aliona Tymoshenko and Yaryna Fostyak as producers.

The main roles in the film were played by Viktor Dufinets, Tetiana Tuzova, Viktoriia Novikova, Serhii Solopai, Oleksiy Bielov, Pavlo Kochubey, and others.

Aliona Tymoshenko, the director of the Ukrainian Film School, highlighted that "Vitya" was recognized as the best diploma work of 2023, receiving awards for best screenplay, direction, and male role. The film has also received an offer from the FILM.UA media group for festival distribution.

"This year's success of the film at the European film festival is a great achievement for the film school students, and we are very proud of them," she added.

In Ukraine, the film will be screened as part of the "Mykolaichuk OPEN" film festival, starting in Chernivtsi on June 15.
