Ukrainian postage stamp "Sofia Caraffa-Korbut. Lukash and Mavka" (Forest Song) won the international competition Nexofil Award 2021 (Madrid, Spain) in the category "Best stamp in the world in mixed printing technology."
In addition to the usual colours, the stamp also features bronze paste, which adds sophistication and mystery to Lesya Ukrainka's image. Such printing is still used for the manufacture of banknotes and forms of securities and printing reproductions of paintings.
Ukrposhta presented stamps with illustrations by Sofia Karaffi-Korbut in 2020, as part of the 150th anniversary of Lesya Ukrainka's birth.
In 2021, more than 100 applications were submitted for the Nexofil Award 2021.
The Nexofil Award competition identifies the best postal issues in 11 categories. The international jury of the competition includes presidents of philatelic federations and academies from around the world. This year, more than a hundred applications were submitted to the contest.
The philatelic products of the national postal operator have repeatedly become winners and prize-winners of international professional competitions. This year, the Ukrainian postage stamp "Creek of the Carpathians" won bronze in the POST EUROP competition for the Best Postage Stamp of Europe in 2021.
In total, for 30 years of independence, Ukrposhta has put into circulation almost 2,000 plots of postage stamps.
