On February 11, Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Maryana Bezha, met with the Senior Coordinator of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) for Ukraine, Stefan Sikars.

During the meeting, the parties discussed UNIDO’s program activities in Ukraine and cooperation on future initiatives and events.

Maryana Bezha praised the significant expansion of UNIDO projects in recent years and emphasized the importance of the Organization’s focus on both the urgent reconstruction of the destruction caused by Russia's ongoing aggressive war against Ukraine and assistance in post-war recovery.

“We welcome UNIDO’s plans to establish an office in Ukraine, which will ensure effective project management, considering the critical importance of rapid post-war recovery of Ukraine's economy, as well as the Organization’s unique expertise in circular economy, green industrial recovery, decarbonization, sustainable energy, technology transfer, and infrastructure development,” the Deputy Minister emphasized.

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) was established in 1966. Ukraine has been a member of UNIDO since its founding. Since 1999, a UNIDO coordinator has been working in Ukraine.

With the support of UNIDO, a number of projects have been implemented in Ukraine in the areas of industrial development, sustainable water resource management, waste management, environmental rehabilitation of industrially contaminated areas, and more.
