The U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control has added Russian billionaires Mikhail Fridman and Petr Aven to the sanctions list.
This was reported by the U.S. Treasury Department's press service.
Russian businessmen German Khan and Alexey Kuzmichov have also been added to the sanctions list.
In addition, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs has been placed under restrictions.
Fridman and Aven are also subjects of the EU sanctions list, having been included on February 28, 2022, just four days after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. The billionaires immediately stated that they would appeal the sanctions.
Fridman, who grew up in Ukraine, accumulated his wealth in Russia and moved to London in 2015. He has long denied any ties to the Kremlin.
Aven left Russia shortly after participating in a roundtable with Putin on the day the full-scale war began and has not returned since.
Despite the sanctions, Fridman continues to live in the UK, where he has been allowed to spend money on his employees.
This spring, it became known that Fridman and Aven are ready to sell their stakes in Alfa-Bank for $2.3 billion, as they seek to free themselves from Western sanctions.
