On April 20, 2024, a large charity run, Spartan Kyiv, organized by Oleksiy Vovk and Spartan Race Ukraine, took place on Trukhaniv Island in Kyiv.
Nearly two thousand participants registered for the event, each making a charitable contribution to support Ukraine's military intelligence and challenge themselves on obstacle courses of various difficulty levels.
"There were rope climbs, water crossings, sand, hills upon hills, just obstacles that needed to be overcome. And the biggest obstacle is the struggle with oneself, not to give up," shared Olexandra from Kryvyi Rih with Suspilne.
Victoria from Volnovakha moved to the capital because her city was destroyed by Russian invaders.
"I run with the belief that someday there will be a marathon in my city. And today, my friends asked me—they wanted to see me on their team. And I was very happy to agree when I ended up on Trukhaniv Island. Everything here is inspiring!" she told Vechirniy Kyiv."
"Firstly, it's support for the Main Intelligence Directorate, which is the most important, and secondly, I am in good physical shape," described marketing specialist Alexander, explaining his motivation to participate in the competition.
During the event, charitable auctions and raffles were also held for the attendees.
Overall, the charity run managed to raise over three million hryvnias—all funds will be directed towards purchasing drones for intelligence officers and providing assistance to severely wounded Main Intelligence Directorate soldiers.
