U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he is shortening his ultimatum to Russia to ten days starting today.
He made the statement to reporters while returning from Scotland to Washington, according to a live broadcast by the White House.
“Ten days starting from today,” Trump said.
After that, he noted, the U.S. will impose tariffs and other restrictions.
“I don’t know if it will affect Russia, because he (Putin) clearly wants to continue the war, but we will impose tariffs and various other things,” the U.S. president added.
On July 14, Donald Trump issued a 50-day ultimatum to Russia aimed at forcing it to make peace.
However, on July 28, the White House leader stated that he would shorten the ultimatum to 10–12 days. He also said he is no longer interested in meeting or speaking with Putin, but emphasized that Russia must reach an agreement to end the war in Ukraine.
