Access to the Brazilian market for finished products of Ukrainian food producers, coordination of efforts in the export of agricultural raw materials and cooperation in the fertilizer market - these and other issues were discussed during the bilateral meeting by First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko and Minister of Agriculture of Brazil Carlos Fávaro.
"Ukraine and Brazil are global leaders in agriculture, and our voice in the issues of food security should be more coordinated. We are saying that countries that import our raw materials should also provide access to their markets for Ukrainian processed goods. Much can be done through joint efforts in the framework of the World Trade Organization. We also see prospects for closer coordination of efforts of exporting countries," said Yuliia Svyrydenko.
According to her, Brazil has recently attracted special attention to the fertilizer market at the global level. Brazil imports the lion's share of them.
"Of course, now the main factor of turbulence in the fertilizer market is the russian aggression. But even in a broader context, the fertilizer market will be volatile in the coming years. Even during the war Ukraine exported 285,000 tons of nitrogen fertilizers. We have large capacities that produce and export despite the war. We can organize the supply of fertilizers to Brazil," suggested Yuliia Svyrydenko.
The parties also discussed joint projects in the restoration of degraded lands, combating climate change, as well as the use of the latest production and storage technologies.
According to the Minister of Agriculture of Brazil Carlos Fávaro, our countries have many common interests. Therefore, by joining forces, Ukraine and Brazil can help each other and the world.
