The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Vitaliy Koval, and the Minister of Rural Affairs and Agriculture of Estonia, Piret Hartman, signed a 2025-2029 Action Plan for cooperation in the agricultural sector.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, Koval emphasized the foundation for closer cooperation with Estonia, strengthening collaboration in the agricultural sector and European integration.
"Estonia is a reliable partner for Ukraine. Experience exchange, market opportunities, and mutual support will be the basis for the growth of our agricultural sector," he said.
During a roundtable with representatives from the agricultural and fisheries sectors, the ministers discussed fish exports, shifting focus to Western markets, and environmental challenges.
The importance of exchanging experiences in crop cultivation and processing, supporting organic production, and new opportunities for Ukrainian farmers through cooperation with European associations were also highlighted.
Additionally, the Ukrainian side debunked myths about the supposed threat to European markets from Ukraine's agricultural exports. Koval stressed that Ukraine does not create competition but rather strengthens the EU's food security and promotes mutually beneficial trade.
"Eurointegration of the Ukrainian agricultural sector is not only about access to new markets but also about implementing European standards, attracting investments, and developing our producers. We are working to provide Ukrainian farmers with more opportunities to trade with the EU, expand exports, and become part of the European market," the Ukrainian minister concluded.
