Ukraine and Moldova are accelerating integration with the European electricity market. This was discussed during a meeting between the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Herman Halushchenko, and the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Moldova, Victor Parlicov, in Kyiv.

The parties discussed cooperation in the energy sector, emphasizing the importance of deepening collaboration in the gas and electricity industries. This is crucial for enhancing the energy security of the region. In particular, Herman Halushchenko highlighted the importance of completing the integration processes of the electricity markets of Ukraine and Moldova with the EU markets.

'Expanding opportunities for cross-border electricity exchange with European countries will enhance the safety and reliability of power supply. We also count on Moldova's support in advancing this issue at the ENTSO-E level. Increasing the transmission capacities for electricity import/export will strengthen our common energy security,' he stated.

Herman Halushchenko also emphasized that Ukraine values its cooperation with Moldova in the gas storage sphere and is interested in its expansion. He reminded that Ukrainian UGS facilities have been certified according to European rules and are ready to provide their capacities to international partners for gas storage on mutually beneficial terms.
