Ukraine and Sweden have begun negotiations on concluding a security cooperation agreement following the directive of President Volodymyr Zelensky and in continuation of his recent phone conversation with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Sweden, Ulf Kristersson.
According to the order of the President of Ukraine, the Ukrainian negotiating delegation is headed by the Head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak. Today's round of negotiations was conducted by the Deputy Head of the President's Office, Ihor Zhovkva.
"We are grateful to Sweden for its significant support of Ukraine, particularly military support, in confronting the full-scale Russian aggression. It is important that today we are negotiating with Sweden as a new NATO member. We expect further deepening of bilateral security cooperation with Sweden in all strategic directions, which will be reflected in our bilateral agreement," emphasized Ihor Zhovkva.
The parties thoroughly discussed the provisions of the draft document and agreed on further steps to ensure its swift finalization and subsequent signing.
