At the Reeperbahn 2024 festival-conference, Ukraine will be represented by a delegation consisting of one Ukrainian band and several representatives of the Ukrainian music industry.

The Ukrainian Institute received 47 applications from artists, musicians, and bands. Among them, the band Say Something Bad was selected to perform at the showcase festival on September 20.

Say Something Bad is a minimalist duo that plays indie rock with blues influences. Over the past two years, the band has released three EPs and one LP titled Reflection. Today, Say Something Bad has over 40,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, and according to the media outlet SLUKH, the band is steadily gaining momentum in the race to become the most ambitious rock band in the country.

The delegation includes three representatives from the Ukrainian music industry:

  • Yevhenii Skrypnyk – founder of the NGO Shum.Rave, who initiated a series of rave parties in Sloviansk in 2019 as a response to the lack of nightlife, cultural activities, and an electronic scene in the Donbas region.
  • Maryna Mykhailova – concert manager for artists Lucas Bird, Seba Korecky, Alinikus, and PoBo, co-organizer of the VERTUHA music events, and co-founder of the VERTUHA Records label.
  • Yurii Bazaka – founder and CEO of the Ukrainian music agency kontrabass promo, co-founder of the charity fund Musicians Defend Ukraine, and concert manager for bands The Unsleeping, Kurs Valut, Pyrih i Batih, and Struktura Shchastya.

The Ukrainian Institute will cover logistical expenses and participation in the event for the selected participants.

The showcase partner is Music Export Ukraine.

Reeperbahn Festival is an annual international four-day festival and conference that brings together a broad and professional audience in the famous Hamburg district of Reeperbahn. Founded in 2006, Reeperbahn has become one of the most important international events, gathering music industry professionals from across Europe for networking, conference participation, and exploring new styles and trends in music.
