The Ukrainian army has ranked 18th in the list of the world's most powerful armies, according to Global Firepower. Compared to last year, it has dropped 3 positions.
This information is based on the ranking compiled annually by the international company Global Firepower, which considers 60 separate categories, including the number of military units, financial status, material-technical capabilities, and geography.
In the overall ranking of 145 countries, Ukraine's neighbors include the armies of Israel (17th place) and Germany (19th place). Ukraine has a power index of 0.2598 (the lower, the better, with 0.0000 considered an ideal indicator).
"Ukrainian military power is bolstered by financial and material support from its Western allies - particularly the United States. February 2024 marks two bloody years since the Russo-Ukrainian War began," wrote the authors in their overview of Ukraine.
Last year, amid Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukraine rose in the ranking of the world's most powerful armies to 15th place. In 2021, it held the 22nd position.
