The Turkish private arms manufacturer, Canik, has supplied Ukraine with hundreds of large-caliber M2 QCB machine guns.
Sources from the British media Middle East Eye have reported that even more machine guns will be delivered in the future.
'Turkey is providing Ukraine with large-caliber machine guns and has already delivered over 600 units,' according to two sources familiar with the sale, as reported by Middle East Eye.
It was already known that Ukraine was purchasing drones, armored vehicles, and other military equipment from Turkey. However, recently, Turkey's defense industry began supplying models of the Canik M2 large-caliber machine guns, which can be used by infantry and installed on armored vehicles.
One source reported that several contracts were signed with the Turkish private arms manufacturer Canik in March. Another source mentioned that over 600 machine guns have already been delivered to Kyiv for use by various agencies, including reconnaissance units.
An expert from Ankara stated that the estimated cost of each machine gun is between $15,000 and $20,000, which means that the current supply is worth over $10 million.
In 2022, Canik showcased this large-caliber machine gun, the M2 QCB, at the ADEX 2022 exhibition. When designing this weapon, the developers aimed to create something similar to the M2 Browning machine gun.
The ammunition for the machine gun is a large-caliber cartridge - 12.7x99 mm. The maximum effective shooting range is over 1.8 km.
