Ukraine is informing foreign countries about the recruitment of their citizens into the Russian armed forces, using collected materials on 136 mercenaries from 37 countries who were captured by Ukraine.
This was reported by Bohdan Okhrimenko, head of the Secretariat of the Coordinating Headquarters on the Treatment of Prisoners of War, during the Congress of Indigenous Peoples of Ukraine in Kyiv.
“136 citizens from 37 countries are currently in our captivity. Accordingly, we have prepared certain videos and documentary materials, which we use in our work during communication with our partners and embassies,” he said.
According to Okhrimenko, Ukraine shares information selectively with the countries whose citizens are being most actively recruited into the Russian armed forces.
“We provide this information specifically to those countries where the recruitment of their citizens into the Russian Federation’s armed forces is most active. This work is yielding positive results,” he said.
Okhrimenko added that details are planned to be made public in the future.
“In the future, I believe we will make this information public,” he emphasized
