The money for the development of ammunition production has been allocated in the budget for the next year.
General Director of "Ukroboronprom," Herman Smetanin, stated in an interview with EP,
"In Ukraine, there is ammunition production, but it is not our own, and it is insufficient to meet the needs of the Armed Forces. Next year, seven times more funds will be allocated from the budget for the exploration, modernization, and development of the defense industry compared to this year. Part of these funds will be directed towards enhancing ammunition production capabilities."
It is worth noting that "Ukroboronprom" lost its ammunition production capacity in 2014 after the occupation of the Luhansk ammunition plant. Since then, ammunition has only been produced by a small private enterprise, and politicians have made promises every year to restore ammunition production within the state concern.
However, "Ukroboronprom" is yet to see the establishment of new production lines for ammunition.
