The Vinnytsia community is embarking on the construction of a new "dry port," which aims to enhance connectivity between central Ukraine and the ports of Odessa, as well as linking to the EU through the Mostyska container terminal. The project, with an investment of $15 million, was announced by Vinnytsia Deputy Mayor Andriy Ocheretny on Facebook.
"This railway terminal will improve cargo transport and handling efficiency, and enhance our country's export and import potential. It will connect central regions with the major Odesa ports and, via the Mostyska terminal, with EU countries," Ocheretny highlighted.
Construction commenced in spring 2024, with the first phase focusing on building railway infrastructure and an initial container area with a capacity of approximately 30,000 TEU per year. Additionally, a container storage facility with a capacity of 2,000 TEU is under construction.
Currently, parts of the railway tracks, a weighing system, and a 3,500 sq. m warehouse are complete. The dry port is expected to be operational by the third quarter of the year, creating around 50 jobs initially, with a total of 100 positions planned. The search for machinery operators is underway.
