Today, on March 21, Ukraine received EUR 1.5 billion as part of a large-scale Macro-Financial Assistance (MFA) program from the EU. This is the second tranche of the concessional loan program, the total amount of which reaches EUR 18 billion.

Ukraine received the first tranche of EUR 3 billion in January 2023.

The funds are provided on unprecedentedly concessional terms for Ukraine and will be directed to finance the most urgent State Budget expenditures to maintain macroeconomic stability in the country.

«Since the start of 2023, the total amount of direct budgetary assistance from the EU has reached EUR 4.5 billion. I am grateful to my colleagues from the European Union for their consistent and systematic support of Ukraine. The Macro-Financial Assistance is a significant contribution to ensuring financial stability and accelerating the victory in the war," said Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko.

Ukraine will receive the next tranches of the large-scale MFA program in 2023, subject to Ukraine's performance of the conditions agreed upon by the parties.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the European Union has provided Ukraine with EUR 11.7 billion of Macro-Financial Assistance.
