Ukraine will have a U.S. advisor for infrastructure projects as part of the reconstruction efforts, and Robert Mariner will be appointed to this position.
This announcement was made during a visit to Kyiv by the U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg, on the morning of November 8.
Buttigieg met with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during his visit.
The minister mentioned that his visit is related to the appointment of a U.S. advisor on infrastructure matters who will be working in Kyiv.
"This advisor will be based in Kyiv to provide technical support in the implementation of projects as part of the efforts for the country's reconstruction. This is one of the many ways the United States continues to support the Ukrainian people in the long term and ensure Ukraine's connectivity with the world," Buttigieg stated.
A statement from the U.S. Department of Transportation further elaborated that Robert Mariner would serve as this advisor. Mariner has worked on engineering projects for the U.S. Air Force and Navy and has been involved in various transportation projects for many decades. Among other roles, he served as a transportation advisor at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul.
