In October 2025, NATO experts will conduct an institutional audit of Ukraine's military education system. Following this, Ukraine will be able to apply for the certification of professional military education courses according to NATO standards.

"Thanks to the certification of courses and the standardization of educational programs, Ukraine will not only improve the training level of its military but also ensure operational compatibility of the Ukrainian army with NATO forces. This will open opportunities for training NATO member state military personnel in Ukraine," explained Brigadier General of Justice Serhiy Melnyk, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, who oversees military education and science.

The issue of developing the military education system based on NATO standards was recently discussed at a meeting of the Defense and Security Sector Committee at NATO Headquarters in Brussels.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine was represented at the event by Volodymyr Mirnenko, Director of the Department of Military Education and Science. He shared achievements and plans regarding the transformation of military education conducted within the NATO DEEP program.

The project contributes to the development and synchronization of over 200 educational programs, including those for non-commissioned officers and officers, in military planning, decision-making, and leadership.

Since the launch of the DEEP project in Ukraine, more than 1,000 training sessions, internships, and other educational events have been held. In 2024, Ukrainian military participation in these events increased by 450%, with over 15,000 participants overall.
