Ukraine's Air Defense thwarts  Russian missile and drone attack

Last night, Russia launched a combined aerial attack on Ukraine using over 30 air assault means. The air defense forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down 24 of them, including all enemy kamikaze drones and 7 missiles.

This was reported by Lieutenant General Mykola Oleschuk, Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It is noted that the occupiers launched the following for the air attack on Ukraine:

  • 10 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles from Tu-95 MS strategic aviation aircraft (launch area - Saratov region in Russia),
  • 3 Iskander-M ballistic missiles (launched from occupied Crimea and Russia’s Krasnodar region),
  • 1 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missile (from the airspace over Tambov region),
  • 17 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs (from Yeysk).

"Fighter aviation, anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare means of the Ukrainian Defense Forces were engaged in repelling the enemy air attack," Oleschuk said.

According to the general, 24 targets - 7 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles and 17 Shaheds - were shot down over the territories of 7 regions, specifically in:

  • Khmelnytskyi,
  • Kharkiv,
  • Mykolaiv,
  • Odessa,
  • Zaporizhzhia,
  • Dnipropetrovsk.
