On the night of August 6 (starting at 20:30 on August 5), Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on Ukraine, deploying 45 strike UAVs of the Shahed type and various drone decoys from multiple directions: Kursk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia) and Chauda (temporarily occupied Crimea).
The aerial assault was countered by Ukrainian aviation, air defense missile units, electronic warfare (EW) systems, UAV units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces.
According to preliminary reports as of 09:00, Ukrainian air defenses shot down or neutralized 36 Shahed drones and other types of decoy UAVs over the northern, southern, and eastern regions of the country.
