A Ukrainian delegation has arrived in the Russian-controlled town of Oleshky in the Kherson region, where the evacuation of residents and distribution of humanitarian aid have begun.

The ceasefire remains in effect and promised to provide further details of the humanitarian operation later.

Ukraine's Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, said he was speaking with local residents to understand their needs and determine what assistance they require most urgently.

According to Lubinets, the operation is proceeding in accordance with agreements reached with Russia's Human Rights Commissioner, Yana Lantratova, with the assistance and coordination of US First Lady Melania Trump.

"Our main priority is the people who need assistance. We are doing everything possible to support them and help everyone who needs it," the Commissioner added.
