Ukrainian EdTech startups Preply and Headway have made it into the list of 100 future unicorns according to VivaTech.
Headway is an EdTech startup that creates microlearning products. It was founded in 2019 and has grown from a team of 3 to over 200 people in 5 years, with offices in Kyiv, Warsaw, Nicosia, and London. Its flagship product, the Headway app, became the App of the Day in the US App Store five times in 2023 and received the Editors' Choice award from the App Store. In 2023, Headway also made it into the list of the top 50 startups in Europe.
Preply, founded by Ukrainians Serhiy Lukyanov, Dmytro Voloshyn, and Kyrylo Bihai in 2012, is an online language learning platform that connects tutors with students using machine learning algorithms. The startup's team consists of 500 employees of 60 different nationalities in 30 countries. In 2023, Preply opened its first office in the US. Preply's valuation could reach $500 million.
VivaTech is an annual technology conference dedicated to innovation and startups, held in Paris since 2016. Additionally, VivaTech publishes a list each year of the 100 most promising startups in Europe with the potential to become unicorns. This year's VivaTech conference will take place from May 22nd to 25th.
