Ukrainian war veterans, who competed in the Arnold Classic Europe, set a new world record in the strongman discipline.
During the competition in Madrid, these Ukrainian veterans, who suffered serious injuries during combat, pulled four trucks weighing a total of 35 tons for a distance of 20 meters in just 30.69 seconds, establishing a new world record in this discipline.
This impressive achievement was made possible by the participation of eight Ukrainian veterans who are also champions in adaptive sports for veterans known as "Strong Ukraine." The participants include Alexander Shvachko, Vyacheslav Tsiukh, Vladislav Shatilo, Yevheniy Smaha, Artem Marchenko, Artem Pohorelyy, Mykhailo Drobotenko, and Denys Barchuk.
According to the Ukrainian team captain, Alexander Shvachko, the team's record-breaking achievement is aimed at drawing attention to the issue of sports rehabilitation for war veterans. They also hope to initiate the organization of international competitions for veterans under Ukraine's auspices in 2024.
"With this action, we want to show all veterans that, despite serious injuries, you can set world records. Therefore, we encourage all veterans to engage in rehabilitation through sports. Join us," said Shvachko.
