During a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced a military assistance package for Ukraine totaling $400 million.
According to a correspondent from Ukrinform, Austin stated,
"Under President Joe Biden's leadership, the U.S. continues to ramp up support for Ukraine. Today, I want to announce a presidential aid package of $400 million for ammunition, military equipment, and weapons for Ukraine."
He emphasized that the U.S. understands the consequences of Putin's war for both Ukraine and the world.
"That is why I would like to convene the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (the 'Ramstein' format) once again. We are working in a coalition of over 50 countries to provide security assistance to Ukraine so that Ukraine can prevail," said the Pentagon chief.
Austin reassured that the U.S. will continue to assist Ukraine, stating,
"We will continue to provide assistance in accordance with the bilateral security agreement you signed with President Biden. Therefore, I am pleased to discuss further strengthening our strategic partnership with you."
