A rematch between Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk and British fighter Tyson Fury is set for December 21, 2024, in Saudi Arabia, as confirmed by Turki Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia.
In their first bout on May 19, 2024, Usyk defeated Fury to become the undisputed heavyweight champion, unifying the WBA, WBO, IBF, and WBC titles. Fury had held the WBC title since 2020.
Promoter Frank Warren confirmed on May 21 that Fury intends to seek revenge against Usyk following his defeat.
In the rematch, Usyk will defend his newly acquired WBC title, as well as the WBA and WBO titles for the third time since moving up to the heavyweight division. However, he will lose the IBF title due to not defending it within the required timeframe, with a fight for the vacant title scheduled between Filip Hrgović and Daniel Dubois.
Usyk has only conducted one immediate rematch in his professional career, against Anthony Joshua, winning the first fight by unanimous decision in 2021 and the rematch in 2022 by split decision.
