The SSU is focused on arresting traitors inside the country and self-cleansing its own ranks. The head of the special service, Vasyl Malyuk, said this in an interview with Natalia Moseichuk for the TV channel "1+1".
"We can conduct a lot of mega-successful operations and plan them, but if we have, excuse me, one "rat" on board which informs the enemy on time, then the entire operational plan is nullified, the entire operational composition is exposed to danger⦠So my life philosophy, first of all: is to clean the benches of the Service. Self-purification is where we begin. What starts every working day, every working meeting for me", Vasyl Malyuk said.
For example, he told the details of how the exposé of the former head of the Crimean Department of the SSU Kulinich, who worked for the enemy, took place. Vasyl Malyuk was personally involved in its development and maintenance.
"It was very difficult. I have only dealt with this issue with one employee. I call it intellectual counterintelligence. Sometimes it takes years. In the situation with Kulinich, it was more than a year," noted Vasyl Malyuk.
The head of the SBU also explained how the enemy collected intelligence messages from Ukraine.
"There is an office of Sivkovich-Klyuyev in Moscow. This is a kind of "mole farm", if we call things by the terms that are already familiar to us. Various issues are worked out in that office, but its main task is to collect information about Ukraine. Including personnel employees of the 5th service of the FSB of the Russian Federation are present in the office. And they directly cooperated with Kulinich," said Vasyl Malyuk.
The Security Service purges Russian agents, including those from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate).
"If a person is wearing a cassock with incense, this is not a mitigating circumstance when committing a crime, nor is it an aggravating one. For example, as an adjuster in a cassock who directed fire on peaceful neighborhoods. The court gave him 12 years. We changed him; he already went to the enemy, confirming his affiliation with their special services. What does he have to do with God, I wonder?â - explained the head of the SSU.
