Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has installed wind equipment in Ukraine with a capacity of 880 MW and continues operations, starting the implementation of the second phase of DTEK’s Tiligul Wind Farm, sending a positive signal to the world, said the company’s regional director José Luis Gimeno.
“We have installed 880 MW of wind turbine capacity in Ukraine—almost half of all wind energy in the country. Now we have started the second phase of the Tiligul Wind Farm. This shows that it is possible to work in Ukraine. We are demonstrating this to the world,” Gimeno said during the 2025 Ukrainian Wind Energy Forum organized by the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association in Lviv.
According to him, Ukraine has a large market for wind farms and offers opportunities for foreign businesses to develop projects.
He added that Vestas operates in 88 countries and can help Ukraine not only technically but also politically transform the renewable energy development framework and legislation to attract more investors.
Gimeno also noted that 70% of the company’s equipment currently remains in occupied territories.
As reported at the forum, Deputy Head of the Directorate for Socio-Economic Policy of the Office of the President Yurii Shafarenko stated that a total of 1,947 MW of wind power plants have been installed in Ukraine, 1,300 MW of which are in temporarily occupied territories, and another 40 MW have been destroyed or damaged by Russia.
DTEK built the first phase of the Tiligul Wind Farm, 114 MW in Mykolaiv region in 2023 using Vestas turbines; the company has now begun the second phase of 386 MW.
