On the eve of the European Council meeting, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone call with President of the European Council Charles Michel.
The parties discussed the next steps towards the actual start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union, as well as further comprehensive support of our country by the EU.
Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Charles Michel for yesterday's approval by the Council of the EU of the decision to establish a special €5 billion Ukraine Assistance Fund within the European Peace Facility (EPF).
In addition, the parties discussed the opportunities to increase the supply of artillery ammunition to our country.
The interlocutors also discussed the importance of extending autonomous trade benefits for Ukraine for another year. Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that the continuation of the trade liberalization regime with the EU is a critical factor in supporting the Ukrainian economy during the war.
The Head of State and the President of the European Council exchanged their expectations from the upcoming 25th Ukraine-EU Summit.
