Volodymyr Zelensky: Shaheds are becoming more dangerous than ballistic missiles

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Shaheds, because of their large numbers and modernization, are becoming more dangerous than ballistic missiles.

He made the remark while speaking with journalists.

“Shaheds have in some places become more dangerous than ballistic missiles. We shoot down a ballistic missile at least where we have a Patriot. But to shoot down such a large number of Shaheds at that altitude you need to use everything. Interceptors, F-16s, helicopters — we use everything. And much depends on the weather. In frost we’ll see how we use helicopters. In rain, aviation can’t see as well,” Zelensky said.

Regarding interceptor drones, he noted that production is planned to reach 500–800 units per day in November.

“We need to train operators. Many mobile fire groups are deployed at various objects; now we need many operators who will work with the interceptors,” Zelensky added.

The president also stressed that Ukraine will respond to Russian attacks and plans to increase combat use of Flamingo missiles and Ruta cruise-drones.

“Flamingo — there has been combat use. Ruta — there has been combat use. We are doing everything so that this year we try to use them not once, not twice, not three times, but seriously… We are moving toward that. We believe we will succeed. We really hope so, because our repeated uses have already shown that there can be an effective result,” the head of state said.
