Ukraine has not carried out strikes against Russian oil refineries or other energy infrastructure for two days since US President Donald Trump announced an energy ceasefire, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Facebook.
"Ukraine has not struck Russian oil refineries or energy infrastructure in general for two days since the US President announced a ceasefire in the energy sector. But Russia did not listen to the American President. During this period, Russian forces attacked both our energy facilities and critical infrastructure, sending absolutely clear signals that they have no intention of refraining from strikes against Ukraine," Zelensky said.
He stressed that 19 Ukrainian regions had come under attack during those two days.
"Our position remains unchanged: Ukraine is ready to take reciprocal de-escalation measures, but effective pressure on Russia is needed to achieve de-escalation. Wars end when the aggressor realises it has no opportunity to prolong the conflict," the President said.
Zelensky emphasised that international pressure on Russia helps bring peace closer.
However, he warned that:
"Direct or indirect support for Russia, delays in assistance to Ukraine and making it more difficult to protect lives against ballistic missile attacks will certainly not contribute to peace."
