Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces have launched intense attacks across several Ukrainian regions, inflicting casualties and damaging civilian infrastructure.
Sumy region
In the Sumy region alone, more than 100 strikes targeted 42 settlements, injuring four people, the Sumy Regional Military Administration reported on Facebook. The heaviest attacks focused on the Sumy, Shostka, and Konotop districts, involving over 20 guided aerial bombs, nearly 40 rocket artillery strikes, and more than 10 fragmentation munitions. FPV drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles were also deployed.
Several civilians were injured during these attacks: a man born in 1980 was wounded by an FPV drone strike in Krasnopillia, while a woman born in 1959 was hurt in a rocket attack in Seredyna-Buda. Additionally, drone strikes injured a woman in Buryn and a man born in 1979 in Romny. A child born in 2014 was hospitalized in Bilopillia after an accident involving an explosive device.
Damage to civilian properties was widespread, with homes, shops, administrative buildings, and vehicles affected across multiple communities, including Seredyna-Buda, Sumy, Novoslobidka, Esman, Buryn, and Romny. An air raid alert lasted more than 14 hours in the region, during which seven people were evacuated from border communities with assistance from local authorities and volunteer groups.
Zaporizhzhia region
In the Zaporizhzhia region, Russian forces conducted 672 strikes on 14 settlements, injuring an 81-year-old woman in Polohy district. Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, detailed the assaults:
“There were 10 airstrikes, 461 drone attacks mostly using FPV drones, 12 multiple-launch rocket system strikes, and 189 artillery strikes on various settlements.”
The attacks caused damage to apartments, private homes, and outbuildings.
Dnipropetrovsk region
In Dnipropetrovsk region, a missile strike on Kamianske damaged civilian infrastructure, including medical facilities, killing two people and injuring five, reported Serhii Lysak, head of the regional administration.
“Two people were killed. Five others were injured. Two women are in serious condition — one of them is pregnant. Three patients are in moderate condition,” Lysak stated.
A three-story unused building was partially destroyed, and a maternity hospital and city hospital department suffered damage.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region’s Nikopol and Synelnykove districts, overnight attacks killed two people and injured three others. Governor Serhii Lysak noted extensive damage to homes, utility buildings, vehicles, and infrastructure in communities including Marganets, Pokrovske, Mezhova, Dubovykivska, Slovianska, and Velykomykhailivska. The assaults involved artillery, drones, and guided aerial bombs.
Mykolaiv region
In Mykolaiv region, air defense forces shot down or neutralized five Shahed-type drones overnight. Falling debris from downed UAVs caused fires in warehouse buildings and grassy areas, which emergency services quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported. The day before, two private homes in the village of Parutyne were damaged during FPV drone attacks, with no casualties.
Kherson region
Kherson region also suffered casualties and damage from Russian drone and artillery attacks. Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, reported one death and three injuries in the region. The strikes hit numerous settlements, damaging homes, utility structures, warehouses, garages, and vehicles.
Donetsk region
Finally, two civilians were wounded in Donetsk region on July 28. Regional governor Vadym Filashkin reported that since the start of the conflict, 3,379 people have been killed and 7,687 injured in Donetsk, excluding figures from the occupied cities of Mariupol and Volnovakha.
