The international community must take immediate measures to deoccupy the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant.

Yaroslav Demchenkov, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine for European Integration, called on the participants of the Ministerial Meeting of the Nuclear Energy Working Group of the Transatlantic Energy and Climate Cooperation (P-TECC). The event's topic was "Energy Security and Diversification in Europe: Next Steps to Strengthening Partnerships".

Yaroslav Demchenkov stressed that Russia, as a member of the IAEA and its agencies, Rosatom and Rosenergoat, continue to violate international law, including international nuclear law and the UN Charter, as well as UN nuclear conventions, in order to gain full control over the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

"ZNPP personnel and members of their families are under constant psychological pressure from Russian troops at the NPP site and the satellite city of Energodar. In addition, the Russians use the company to store a large number of explosives, shells and mines, which intentional or accidental explosion can lead to catastrophic consequences, "- said the Deputy Minister.

He stressed that the work of NPP personnel in the face of constant interference and threats from the Russian occupiers sharply increases the risk of human error, which could lead to disaster.

At the same time, the permanent representation of the Russian Federation to the IAEA continues to spread propaganda, misleading images, false narratives and misconceptions about the situation at ZNPP.
