In Israel, two individuals suspected of espionage on behalf of Iran and Russia have been arrested.
According to military analyst Yigal Levin, one of the detainees is Jeremy Loffredo, who posed as a journalist to gather information about damage inflicted on Israeli military sites due to an Iranian missile strike.
Loffredo is associated with the American publication The Grayzone, known for its pro-Kremlin views regarding Russia, China, Syria, and Iran. The publication often disseminates misinformation, including fake narratives about the war in Ukraine, and was founded by journalist Max Blumenthal, who previously worked for the Russian media network RT.
Alongside Loffredo, Andrey Krzhanovsky, an ultra-left activist and the son of Russian director Ilya Krzhanovsky, was also arrested. Media reports indicate that Krzhanovsky assisted Loffredo in gathering intelligence on Israeli military bases to relay it to Tehran.
"It should be noted that this may only be a small part, the tip of the iceberg, of the Russian-Iranian agency that, under the guise of activists or journalists (and also using activists and journalists), is engaged in gathering intelligence for Tehran and Moscow," wrote Yigal Levin.
