The delegation of the Ukrainian Government has begun its first working visit to Latin American countries with negotiations in Argentina. Meetings were held with the Vice President of Argentina, Victoria Vilarruel, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, and Worship of Argentina, Diana Mondino, Minister of Security of Argentina, Patricia Bullrich, Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, and Minister of Defense, Luis Petri.

The Ukrainian delegation included First Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko, Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleksandr Kamyshin, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Dmytro Klimenkov, and Representative of the Commissioner for Equal Rights and Freedoms of Political and Religious Views of National Minorities Mykhailo Spasov.

"This working trip is a continuation of the dialogue initiated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky together with President of Argentina Javier Milei. On the agenda is the First Global Peace Summit initiated by President Volodymyr Zelensky, strengthening business ties, deepening cooperation in the defense sector, and supporting the Ukrainian energy system against the backdrop of systematic shelling of our energy facilities by Russia," said Yulia Svyrydenko following the visit to Argentina.

Ukraine invited the leaders of Argentina to join the First Global Peace Summit.

"We discussed with the country's leadership the format of participation in the Global Peace Summit. The success of the summit and the global presence of Latin American countries will send a clear signal that the world does not support the war initiated by terrorist Russia. Argentina has been invited to co-chair a working group on one of the points of the Peace Formula," clarified Yulia Svyrydenko.

There is mutual interest from both Ukraine and Argentina in deepening business cooperation. A meeting of the Joint Ukrainian-Argentinian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was held, where agreements were reached to hold a session in October 2024. The last session took place 18 years ago. Additionally, there is consideration for organizing a Ukrainian-Argentinian business forum.

Representatives of the Ministry of Economy also met with the Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services (SAC) and the Argentine-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CAUCI).

"We invited businesses to join the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin. We know that there is already interest from companies in the pharmaceutical, agricultural, and processing industries who want to deepen cooperation with Ukraine. This can be facilitated by a free trade agreement with Argentina, which we are currently working on. Cooperation with Argentina is reaching a qualitatively new level. This country is a leader in the strategically important region of Latin America for us, so strengthening Ukraine's presence is an investment in both the development of business ties and security projects," summarized Yulia Svyrydenko.

The First Vice Prime Minister added that Argentina is actively assisting Ukraine. They have already allocated 16 humanitarian aid packages worth $600,000 and provide support to Ukrainians living in Argentina. Currently, up to half a million Ukrainians reside in the country.
