The Ukrainian army will defend Avdiivka with all its strength, but if the forces are insufficient, it is crucial to prioritize the safety of the people.
This statement was made by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny.
"We don't need to fixate and create some 'show or mourning' near a specific settlement. The conduct of actions is subject to its laws, which do not depend on whether it pleases MPs or journalists," he said.
Zaluzhny mentioned that the enemy has the ability to concentrate its forces on a specific direction. He added that they could do in two or three months what happened in Bakhmut.
"Every piece of land is important to us; we will defend as much as there is strength. If the strength is not enough, we preserve the people, and then we will recapture," stated Zaluzhny.
