In Oslo, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with King Haakon VIII of Norway, who ascended the throne on August 28 of this year following the death of his father, King Harald V.

The Head of State thanked His Majesty, the Government, and the people of Norway for their strong support of Ukraine throughout nearly five years of Russia’s full-scale aggression. The total amount of assistance provided has already reached $22.5 billion.

The President expressed special gratitude for assistance in returning and reintegrating children abducted by Russia. Through the joint efforts of Ukraine and international partners, 2,689 children have already been brought back. During the audience, they discussed steps that could help bring all Ukrainian children home.

They also discussed the humanitarian situation in temporarily occupied Oleshky. Volodymyr Zelensky told the King about Ukraine’s efforts to help people there and the preparation of relevant decisions. Ukraine is grateful to Norway for its involvement in providing humanitarian assistance and counts on its continuation.
