Ukraine will escort cargo ships in the Black Sea traveling through the 'grain corridor.'
President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this at the Grain from Ukraine conference.
For this purpose, Ukraine has already reached agreements with several countries to acquire naval patrol boats.
According to Zelensky, Ukraine considers the establishment of the 'grain corridor' in the Black Sea without Russia's participation as one of the biggest achievements of the year. The country is also working to ensure the security of cargo ships navigating this corridor.
"We have reached agreements with partners and will escort the ships at sea to guarantee their safety. We already have specific agreements with several states," the president revealed.
Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is already receiving the respective patrol boats, and deliveries will continue in the future.
The head of state added that the Odessa region will be additionally protected by anti-aircraft defense systems, agreements for which have already been made with partners.
Currently, it is unknown how many and what type of boats Ukrainian sailors will receive for ensuring the security and escorting of cargo ships through the 'grain corridor.'
In the Ukrainian Naval Forces, there are plans to establish a full-fledged mine countermeasure division, which is needed, among other things, to ensure the safety of civilian navigation.
