A military expert told why the Donetsk direction is important for the Russians.

The Russian occupiers continue their attempts to seize the Donetsk region and enter its administrative borders. The head of Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, is so interested in this goal.

In a commentary to Channel 24, military expert Oleg Zhdanov told what caused such an interest in capturing the region by the head of the Wagnerites.

Zhdanov spoke about the connection between politics and economics. So, he noted that there is a water intake near Sloviansk, which the enemy needs to solve problems with drinking water in Donetsk. In addition, Sloviansk and Kramatorsk are the centers of the Yuzovsky shale gas field. It is not only highly rated. There is so much of it that it is possible to cover the needs of both Ukraine and Europe. Lithium is also mined there.

“In addition, as it turns out now, Prigozhin has his own interests in salt mines and limestone. Therefore, regardless of the number of losses, such a desire to take away this territory from us,” the expert explained.

Russia's main efforts are focused on attempts to capture the Donetsk region within the administrative border completely.

British intelligence noted that the front sector near the Kremennaya Lugansk region could threaten the Russians in the Bakhmut direction.

The Russians are constantly attracting new resources to push through the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As Reuters writes, "Putin's cook", oligarch and founder of the Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin, allegedly wants to control salt and gypsum mines near Bakhmut, Donetsk region. They say, because the Ukrainian city is important for a businessman.
