BROKEN LIFE is an atmospheric, fully-voiced Point-and-Click adventure game set in a world torn by war. The game was inspired by a cruel reality, as it was made in Ukraine, a country that has witnessed countless horrors of war.
In the center of this story stands Leo, a former soldier who returns to his recently de-occupied hometown. Leo's story is full of loneliness and exhaustion after the years spent on war. In this story, the player will try to help the protagonist to rebuild his home and his broken life, cope with grief and reunite with his daughter.
The gameplay is not linear and the player's decisions will affect the evolution of the story. There are no 100% positive or negative actions. The player has the opportunity to choose which way to bring the main character to the final goal.
"The purpose of creating BROKEN LIFE is to give hope. Hope for a better world, for justice, for overcoming grief and healing the trauma of war. I wish I had never created a game like this, things happened differently. So, I invite you to join Leo on his journey through dark and incredibly atmospheric environments to uncover his story and help him rebuild his broken life," writes Kostiantyn Reus, an indie game developer from Ukraine.
Leo will encounter numerous obstacles and challenges along the way. To solve them, he will need the player's help - his logic and creativity. The puzzles in the game are primarily for the story, not the gameplay. Some of them are simple, and some can be extremely difficult.
The main pillar of BROKEN LIFE is its visual content. Every detail of carefully designed environments evokes a whole range of different feelings and creates a unique gloomy atmosphere. The environment is filled with memories of a past life that will never return. Instead, Leo observes the numerous destructions that his hometown has suffered during the long occupation period. The author's style of visualization is based on his own vision, as well as on real observation and numerous photographs and videos of destroyed and devastated cities.
BROKEN LIFE has full voice acting - by the release, all dialogues and cutscenes will be dubbed for each of the 16 supported languages. AI technologies are used for this purpose. This decision was made by the author to make the game more accessible for people with poor eyesight or who cannot read texts for a long time. The AI voice function is optional, and players can disable it in the settings.
