The Ukrainian Armed Forces control approximately 60% of Vovchansk. However, the city continues to face ongoing assaults. Roman Semenukha, Deputy Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, made this statement during a television marathon.
"We are experiencing continuous shelling. The enemy continues its assault operations, mainly focusing on the directions of the settlements of Lyptsi, Vovchansk, and the left-right flank of the city of Vovchansk," he said.
Semenukha added that today there have been several arrivals of cluster munitions in Lyptsi.
"The enemy does not stop attempting to oust the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the city center of Vovchansk. The city is approximately 60% under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, meaning the assaults continue," he noted.
He further mentioned that this morning, there was a cessation of hostilities on the Kup'yanskyi direction.
"Today, in some areas, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are conducting their own assault operations to improve their positions. And, of course, there are shelling incidents along the border. This includes the Bohodukhivskyi district, Kharkiv district, and Chuhuiv district," Semenukha added.
Since the beginning of May, there has been an intensification of Russian military activities in the Kharkiv region. Occupiers initiated further actions, concentrating efforts on capturing the border town of Vovchansk and advancing towards Kharkiv.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that the Russian army is engaged in active combat to displace Ukrainian defenders near the settlements of Vovchansk, Stanytsia, and Lyptsi.
