The military advance of the Russian Federation in the Kharkiv region did not prompt heightened engagement by Russian forces on the southern front.
This was reported by the chief of the Unified Coordination Press Center of the Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine, Dmytro Pletenchuk, during a telethon.
"No changes in the state, position, or nature of the enemy's actions have been detected, or rather, they are absent. There are also no signs of the creation of offensive groupings. If it was expected there (in the Kharkiv region), then there are no such signs in the south," he said.
Overall, according to the speaker, there were 14 assaults in the operational zone of the Southern Operational Command (SOC), mostly in the Zaporizhzhia region - Robotyne and Staromykhailivka, which are ongoing since the morning of May 11.
"The enemy also attempted assaults in the Kherson region, in the area of Krynky. But the situation remains stable. Yesterday was the first day when no combat clashes were recorded in the area of Nestryha island," Pletenchuk noted.
In the past day, there have been 104 combat clashes on the front lines in Ukraine. The most significant attacks by Ukrainian forces were repelled in the Avdiivka and Bakhmut directions.
Regarding the Kharkiv region, where battles are currently raging after Russian troops attempted to breach the border on May 10 but were stopped, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 9 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Stelychne, Krasne, Morokhovets, Oliinykove, Lukyantsi, Ohurtsove, Hatyshche, and Pletenivka.
Meanwhile, the Institute for the Study of War believes that Russian forces are likely conducting the initial phase of an offensive operation north of Kharkiv.
