Russia has been receiving ammunition from North Korea for a month and a half.
This information was disclosed by Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in a comment to the NV regarding the meeting between the two dictators, Kim Jong-un and Vladimir Putin, in Russia.
"When they say that Putin will respond or sign now, it's all false because a month and a half ago, everything was agreed upon, and the shipment [of ammunition] from North Korea began," explained Kyrylo Budanov.
According to him, North Korea supplies 122mm and 152mm ammunition for Soviet-era artillery pieces, rockets for the BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launchers, and a certain quantity of tank shells to Russia.
Kyrylo Budanov pointed out that North Korea is capable of producing ammunition in significant quantities because, unlike Russia, the Pyongyang regime maintains facilities for mass production of weapons.
According to Ukrainian Military Intelligence, Russian defense enterprises meet only 3-7% of the occupational army's planned ammunition needs.
In Kyrylo Budanov's opinion, the deliveries of North Korean arms could partially alleviate the ammunition shortage faced by the occupying forces.
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine added that the Kremlin is seeking to obtain large batches of ammunition from North Korea.
"It's an order. But how quickly the Koreans can deliver it is a question," concluded Kyrylo Budanov.
